I have 40 shades. Does each one need a separate print run?
Each shade is a separate SKU with its own artwork, but that does not mean 40 expensive setups. We carry no plate or setup charges, and for wide shade ranges we print digitally, which makes short runs per shade economical. Many brands run a common base design and change only the shade name, number, and swatch panel.
How accurately can you print the shade swatch on the box?
This is the hardest thing on a foundation carton, and it deserves a straight answer. A printed swatch is CMYK or Pantone ink on paperboard, and it will never match a pigmented liquid exactly, especially in deep and neutral tones. It gets close enough to guide a shopper, not close enough to promise a match. Most established brands print the swatch and add the shade number and an undertone descriptor, because the words do work the ink cannot. Ask for a press proof on your darkest and lightest shades before the full run.
What size box fits a pump bottle?
Foundation bottles vary more than most cosmetics. A standard 30ml glass bottle with a pump usually needs a carton near 1.6 x 1.6 x 4.5 inches, and the pump head drives the height. Send us the bottle with the pump fitted and locked down.
Do glass foundation bottles need an insert?
For ecommerce, yes. Glass bottles with pumps are top-heavy and a loose bottle in a carton lands badly. A fitted card insert holds the base and stops the bottle tipping. For retail shelf sales where the box is handled gently, a snug dieline is often enough.
How do I fit the ingredient list on a small carton?
Foundation ingredient lists are long, and this is where a lot of cosmetic cartons get redesigned late. Options are a larger carton, a fold-out panel, or a peel-and-reveal label. Decide before we cut the dieline, since it changes the box size rather than just the artwork.
Can you match my brand color across every shade box?
Yes. We use Pantone matching for the brand elements so your logo and brand block stay identical across all 40 boxes, while the shade panel changes. That consistency is what makes the range read as one line on a shelf.
What finish works best for foundation packaging?
