Why Corrugated Boxes Lead the Way?

Corrugated boxes are widely used in retail, e-commerce, food, electronics, and industrial shipping. For example, food-grade corrugated material ensures a safe, hygienic, and eco-friendly storage solution for transporting food items without compromising on their freshness. Trusted for their strength, they protect fragile and heavy items while staying lightweight.

Pharmaceutical corrugated packaging provides secure, compliant, and durable solutions to protect medicines and a variety of medical supplies during handling and shipping. Brands rely on them for cost-effectiveness and versatility, making them a preferred choice across multiple industries worldwide.

Structural Variations That Deliver Strength

The foundation of every strong packaging solution begins with the right material. We make corrugated fiberboard with a sturdy linerboard and a fluted middle layer that adds cushioning. This fluting, with its wave-like shape, provides strength while keeping the material lightweight, ensuring protection and reliability.

Wall Types

The strength of a corrugated box depends on its wall construction. Each type suits different packaging needs:

  • Single-wall corrugated is lightweight and suitable for everyday shipping.
  • Double-wall corrugated is suitable for bulkier items due to its extra strength.
  • Triple-wall corrugated offers maximum durability for industrial use.

We offer flexible customization for personalized corrugated boxes. Our design support team helps you choose the right wall type while ensuring consistency and a never-ending commitment to quality.

Flute Types and Their Applications

Fluting forms the backbone of corrugated boards. We offer multiple flute styles for versatile packaging:

  • E-flute: Thin and perfect for high-quality printing.
  • B-flute: Medium thickness for protective shipping.
  • C-flute: A common size widely used for general packaging.
  • F-flute: Fine and delicate, great for smaller products.

This range ensures brands have full design control while creating custom shipping boxes that have high print and color accuracy.

Popular Box Styles in Corrugated Packaging

Packaging isn’t one-size-fits-all, which is why various box styles exist. From everyday shipping needs to retail displays, these styles of corrugated cardboard boxes strike a balance between durability and presentation. They also ensure that your products stay secure and your brand becomes a top pick.

  • Die-Cut Corrugated Box

Products can have a memorable presentation through custom shapes, which provide creative options for product packaging. In die cuts, we can create any shape or design on durable Kraft linerboard. They enable your brand to make lasting impressions while it stands out to customers.

  • Corrugated Mailer Box

It is perfect for e-commerce businesses and direct shipping, combining presentation with durability. Many brands use these mailer boxes for their subscription businesses. This packaging is suitable for a variety of products in different niches.

  • Corrugated Display Box

When it comes to custom packaging solutions, display boxes stand out. They are not only a cost-effective option for your brand but also an outstanding packaging option that can boost your sales.

  • RSC (Regular Slotted Container)

This most common box style is used across industries. It consists of four flaps of equal length, both on the top and the bottom. They meet at the center to close the box. These boxes are easy to assemble, cost-effective, and reliable for multiple product types.

  •  HSC (Half Slotted Container)

Ideal for items that require easy access with an open top. It has flaps only at the bottom. The style is often used in retail settings and for storage.

  • FOL (Full Overlap Slotted Container)

It’s a heavy-duty corrugated box with a thick fluted structure. Its top and bottom flaps are extra-long and cover each other completely for maximum durability. The box is known for offering extra strength during transportation and high versatility of use.

Ready to Test Packaging That Never Lets You Down?

You can check the strength of the boxes any applying pressure on them. It helps test the certain weight capacity of your packaging by handling it roughly.

  • Edge Crush Test (ECT)

It is famous for testing the quality of the material and the stacking strength. Most brands prefer this test to check their durability for shipping. The test is performed by measuring the crushing force applied parallel to the fluted, i.e., from top to bottom. As the boxes contain heavy-duty material, this test will let you put more pressure on crushing these layers.

  • Burst Strength Test

A burst strength test measures the maximum pressure that your packaging material can withstand before rupturing. It's a good way to find out its durability. The test involves applying pressure through a hydraulic or pneumatic system until the material bursts.

The point at which the machine has crushed the box is the point of its strength. It measures how well a corrugated box can resist internal pressure before it bursts. This is to ensure durability and reliable protection during handling and shipping.

  • Box Compression Test (BCT)

It evaluates how much weight custom cardboard packaging or a corrugated box can withstand before collapsing. The test is a measure of strength and stability during stacking, storage, and transportation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common questions about our custom corrugated boxes.

What is a flute and which one do I need?
The flute is the wavy layer between the liners, and it decides thickness and cushioning. E flute is about a sixteenth of an inch with a smooth print surface, suited to retail cartons and mailers. B flute is roughly an eighth of an inch with more crush resistance. C flute, at about three-sixteenths, is the standard shipping carton. A flute at a quarter inch gives maximum cushioning for fragile goods. F flute at a thirty-second is for small retail boxes.
What is the difference between ECT and burst strength?
ECT, or Edge Crush Test, measures how much stacking pressure the board takes standing on edge, which is what matters when boxes are stacked on a pallet. Mullen, or burst strength, measures resistance to puncture. ECT-32 is the common baseline for a single-wall shipper. For most ecommerce, ECT is the more relevant number.
Are box dimensions inside or outside measurements?
Inside, always, and this trips people up. Corrugated is specified by internal dimensions because that is the space your product occupies. The outside is larger by the board thickness, which matters when you are calculating dimensional weight or whether cases fit a pallet footprint.
When do I need double wall?
Single wall handles most products up to around 20 to 30 pounds depending on size and how they are stacked. Double wall is the sensible choice above that, for anything fragile, or where boxes will be stacked high in a warehouse for long periods. Tell us the packed weight and how they will be stored, and we will spec it.
Does humidity affect box strength?
Yes, significantly, and it is worth knowing if you store stock in a warehouse without climate control or ship to humid regions. Paperboard absorbs moisture from the air and loses compression strength as it does. Boxes stacked for long periods also settle and lose strength over time. If either applies to you, specify a grade above what the weight alone suggests.
What is the box maker’s certificate?
It is the round stamp printed on the bottom flap of a shipping carton, showing the board grade, the burst or ECT rating, size limit, and gross weight limit. Some freight and retail customers ask for it. Tell us if you need one printed and we will include it.
