Amazon does not leave much room on inbound packaging, and the rules have moved recently. Since June 2025, the maximum FBA carton is 36 inches long, with width and height capped at 25 inches, and the weight limit stays at 50 lb per box. If you also ship into Amazon Warehousing and Distribution, note that AWD kept the older 25 x 25 x 25 inch limit, so confirm the destination before you seal the carton.

Every box we produce is a rigid six-sided corrugated structure with all open edges sealed, built to at least 200 lb burst strength or ECT-32, which is the specification Amazon points sellers toward. We size the box so there is roughly two inches of cushioning between the product and the interior walls, leave clean, flat space for your FNSKU and carrier labels away from seams and corners, and keep the footprint tight so you are not paying dimensional weight on empty air.

Why Packaging Accuracy Costs More in 2026 Than It Used To

Amazon discontinued its US FBA prep and labeling services on 1 January 2026. Before that, a mislabeled or under-prepped unit could be fixed at the fulfillment center for a fee. That safety net is gone, so every unit now has to arrive prepped, labeled, and compliant on the first attempt.

At the same time, Amazon consolidated its inbound charges into a single inbound defect fee that averages around $0.60 per unit and runs higher on bulky items. Across a few thousand units, sloppy packaging stops being an annoyance and starts showing up in your margin. Getting the carton right at the dieline stage is the cheapest place to solve it.

SIPP and Frustration Free Packaging

If your product ships in its own packaging rather than inside an Amazon overbox, Ships in Product Packaging certification lowers your fulfillment fees per unit. SIPP is the current name for what used to be split between Ships in Own Container and Frustration-Free Packaging.

The practical requirements are specific. Packaging must measure at least 6 x 4 x 0.375 inches so a standard shipping label fits. It must be a rigid six-sided box with sealed edges, no staples on closures, and it should open easily using curbside recyclable material. Sturdy products under 20 lb without liquids or sharp contents can be self-certified with a drop test. Fragile items, liquids, and sharp contents need lab testing through an ISTA-6 or APASS network lab. We design to those criteria from the dieline stage so your box has a real chance of passing rather than failing at the test.

Different catalogs need different builds. We manufacture single-wall corrugated for light, standard-size goods, double-wall for heavier or higher-value units, and triple-wall for bulky items that take real punishment in transit. Inside the box, we fit die-cut foam, corrugated inserts, or compartment dividers cut to your SKU dimensions.
