Why Choose Us?
Sizes and Fitting Your Tube
The tube decides the carton, so this is where we start. The industry standard twist-up tube holds 0.15 oz (4.25 g) and runs roughly 3 inches tall by 0.7 inches across, and a carton for it typically sits around 3.25 x 0.85 x 0.85 inches. We cut to your tube rather than to a stock size, because a carton even slightly loose lets the tube rattle, and a carton slightly tight scuffs the print during insertion.
• Single tube cartons for standard 0.15 oz twist-up tubes
• Jar and pot cartons for balms sold in 0.25 oz to 0.5 oz screw-top containers
• Slider tin cartons for flat tins, usually a shallower tuck end box
• Multipack cartons holding two to six tubes for gift sets and seasonal bundles
Send us the tube or its measurements, and we will build the dieline around it. If you have not chosen a tube yet, tell us the fill volume, and we will work back from there.
Panel Space For FDA Labeling, Including SPF Products
This is where most lip balm cartons get designed into a corner, so it is worth planning early.
A plain moisturizing lip balm is regulated as a cosmetic. Its packaging has to carry a statement of identity and net quantity on the principal display panel, plus a full ingredient declaration in INCI names listed in descending order, and the manufacturer or distributor details. That is more copy than a small carton panel absorbs comfortably if the layout is not planned for it.
If your balm carries an SPF rating or makes a treatment claim such as preventing chapped lips, it is regulated as an over-the-counter drug rather than a plain cosmetic. That triggers a formatted Drug Facts panel listing active ingredients and their purpose, uses, warnings, and directions, in addition to the cosmetic labeling above. A lip balm making an SPF claim without a Drug Facts panel is misbranded under federal law.
We are a packaging manufacturer, not a regulatory consultant, so your final copy should be signed off by whoever handles your compliance. What we do is build the dieline with the panel real estate that copy needs, at type sizes that stay legible, before the box goes to print rather than after.
Materials and ECO Options, Described Honestly
We build lip balm cartons from cardstock in 12pt to 18pt weights for clean, full-color print, and from kraft paperboard for brands that want an uncoated, natural look. Both stocks are FSC certified and recyclable on their own.
One honest note on sustainability, because it matters if you make green claims on pack. An uncoated kraft or cardstock carton is curbside recyclable. Once you add foil stamping, plastic lamination, or a PET window film, that carton is generally no longer curbside recyclable or biodegradable, whatever the base board was.
If a recyclable claim is central to your brand, we will steer you toward soy-based inks, aqueous coating, and uncoated stock, and skip the finishes that break the claim. If the premium finish matters more, that is a valid choice too, but the pack should not claim recyclability it does not have.
Print and Finish Options
We print in full-color CMYK and match brand colors through the Pantone system so your shade holds across reorders and across flavors in the same line. For finish, you can add soft-touch lamination for a velvet feel, spot UV to lift a logo off a matte background, foil stamping in gold, silver, or rose, and embossing or debossing for texture. A die-cut window backed with clear film lets shoppers see the tube itself, which helps at the shelf, and our window boxes page covers that structure in more detail.
What The Carton Does and Does Not Protect Against
Worth being straight about this. A folding carton stops scuffing, keeps the tube clean, prevents the cap from twisting open in a shipping bag, and holds your labeling. Snug fit inserts stop movement in multipacks.
What it does not do is insulate. Lip balm softens in a hot mailbox or a delivery van in July, and no paperboard carton changes that. If summer melt is a real problem for your DTC orders, the fix is on the formulation and shipping side, such as a higher melt point wax blend or seasonal shipping timing. Any supplier telling you a paper carton protects against heat is overselling.
Display Boxes For Counter Sales
Lip balm sells on impulse, which makes counter display a strong channel. Printed display units hold twelve to forty-eight tubes upright at the register with your branding on the header card, and they ship flat and assemble in store. Our cosmetic display boxes and wider display boxes ranges cover the formats.
Ordering, Minimums, and Turnaround
Orders start at 100 cartons, low enough to test artwork before a full run, and the unit cost drops as you scale. There are no plate or setup charges. Every order includes a free dieline and a 3D mockup before production, then runs in 8 to 12 business days and ships free anywhere in the USA. Building a full lip range? We also manufacture lipstick boxes, lip liner boxes, and the wider cosmetic boxes category so your line looks like one brand.
